Dr. Salaguinto Holding a Brown Cat

Dr. Salaguinto

Practice Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Salaguinto started as a veterinarian at River City Cat Clinic in 2011. She purchased the practice in 2015 and has since put her heart and soul into bringing to life her vision for the clinic. She earned her Bachelor's degree from UC Davis in 1998 and her DVM degree from Purdue University in 2003-where she graduated in the top 10% of her class.

Dr. Salaguinto has accumulated over 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine-starting just after high school as a weekend kennel worker and moving up the ranks from there. She has always had a natural magnetism for cats and is thrilled to be able to fullfill her lifelong dream to work with them exclusively.

Dr. Salaguinto never lets a moment of spare time waste. When not in the clinic, she enjoys tending to her garden, decorating her Land Park home, visiting state parks in her vintage canned ham trailer, and hiking/fishing/kayaking around her rustic cabin in the Sierras. She and her husband have two young children and a big pet family of 6 cats, 2 dogs, 3 chickens, a gecko, and a parrot.

Dr. Nina Quinley holding a grey cat

Dr. Nina Quinley

Associate Veterinarian/Feline Specialist

Dr. Nina Quinley graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Born and raised in Connecticut, she moved to Davis for her undergraduate education and fell in love with Northern California. She and her partner have remained living in Davis with their 5 cats.

Dr. Quinley is a self-proclaimed continuing education junkie. One year after completing her DVM degree, she obtained her Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine. She then went on to achieve Low Stress Handling Certification, completed a Don Low Fellowship in internal medicine at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, acquired Veterinary Acupuncture Certification, and most recently completed her board certification as a Feline Specialist.

After treating both dogs and cats in small animal general practice for 7 years, Dr. Quinley was thrilled to join River City Cat Clinic in 2017 and fulfill her passion for feline medicine full-time. Dr. Quinley believes in ensuring that every cat has the best experience possible at the vet clinic. She has a special interest in internal medicine and is enjoying the opportunity to help kitties through alternative pathways using acupuncture in addition to traditional medicine.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Quinley loves to cook, garden, travel, and read.

Dr. Anita Lara holding a grey cat

Dr. Anita Lara

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Anita Lara’s journey to become a veterinarian started as a young girl who loved science and animals. A visit to her local veterinarian became the turning point when she was offered a summer position at that clinic. This opportunity showed her the many aspects of veterinary medicine that followed a pet’s life from kitten/puppy hood through the final good-bye.

Dr. Lara earned her Bachelor's degree in Zoology at Fresno State before heading off to vet school at UC Davis. While at Davis, a spark of interest in feline medicine grew through her classes and activities with the Feline Medicine Club. She completed her DVM degree in 1996 and immediately started in a small animal practice in Carmel, CA. There she recognized that the cat cases were the ones that fueled her passion.

In 2002, she moved to Sacramento and started her feline-only career as an associate veterinarian at the Veterinary Practice Limited to Cats (River City Cat Clinic). After a brief hiatus at another cat only practice, she is very happy to be back at River City Cat Clinic. Dr Lara brings over 15 years of feline only experience helping clients keep their cats healthy and happy.

When not at work, she enjoys gardening, paper-crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
